About the Coach:
Charlene Kopansky, B.Sc.(H.K),
B.Ed. Creator and Founder of CALA
The Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance
Inc. was founded by a dynamic, passionate, & dedicated
individual who embodies a vision of excellence. Charlene
Kopansky earned an Honours B. Sc. (Human Kinetics) & a
B. Ed. (Sc., P.H.E.). Charlene taught Biology, Science &
P.H.E. & dance fitness classes at university. Since 1978,
Charlene’s skills in dance choreography, water running,
personal training, fitness & aqua fitness leadership have
made her a popular presenter in Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago,
Mexico, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, South Africa
and New Zealand. Awards include ‘Top Presenter’
& Presenter of the Year (Germany, 1996), Volunteer Recognition
Award, OFC, 1992: Leadership Award, OFC, 1994; Who’s
Who of Canadian Women in Fitness, 1997-98, Chatelaine Magazine;
Fitness Leader of the Year, 1998, The Fitness Institute; Water
Speciality Presenter Award, Can-Fit-Pro 2004.
Charlene is in high demand as an instructor,
trainer & presenter. In addition to developing and
training the course curriculum for a variety of CALA courses
and workshops, Charlene is a trainer for other provincial
& national organizations, having presented at every national
CanFitPro conference since 1994. Her philosophy encourages
the mind to discover, the body to move & the spirit to
